This is an aerial shot of my absolute favorite place on Earth, YoungLife's Malibu Club. It sits on an isolated inlet a hundred miles or so North of Vancouver, B.C. Alison and I got to go there for a few weeks back in 2003, so I could lead music for summer camp.
YoungLife camps have played a huge part in my history. My faith, my music and my friendships have all been seriously impacted through those camps since high school. I've been incredibly fortunate to be able to spend great lengths of time at camps as an adult doing the music thing, and they've been wonderful experiences.
We got invited to go to Malibu again this Summer. The dream-come-true gig for any YL musician. And we had to turn it down today. Ouch. With the two babies, and the international travel, and the new Caedmon's album it just wasn't feasible. And we are sad. Not crying, moping sad. More "aw, dang it" sad, if you know what I mean.
We really want to be a part of another YoungLife camp team this Summer, so if anybody knows of a camp looking for a musician, and that camp is actually in America relatively near an airport, please pass our names along. Meanwhile, I'm just going to stare at this photo of the absolute most beautiful place I've ever seen (and I've seen a LOT) and sigh...
