running out of titles

Today has been a nice day. I met for breakfast with a couple of the guys at my publishing company and had a good time. I came home and played with Ella and hung out with my in-laws, who are in town for the weekend. I went out to lunch at the Bar-B-Cutie with a couple friends, including (but not limited to) my recently-engaged former-intern Dave. Good times.

After lunch I went down to the Eagle and wrote another song. This one I'm going to be recording on Monday, I think. An audio engineer friend of mine is making the second in a series of instructional DVDs on how to use a recording studio. Shane Wilson, who mixed my latest record, is going to be the engineer for the actual video and they need something to record so they can show how they do it. They asked me to put a band together and told me I could have the final recording for being their subject. I said "of course". The band will be Will Sayles, Aaron Sands, Cason Cooley and myself. Good times shall be had, and they shall be filmed for your instructional enjoyment. Anyway, I decided I wasn't thrilled with the extra songs I had laying around, at least not for this particular exercise, so I wrote a new one today. The working title is "Reaching Out" but I think that's lame, so it won't stick. I know you haven't heard it, but feel free to float suggestions my way...

Tonight we went out to eat with Alison's brother and his wife and Alison's folks. We went to a nice Italian restaurant downtown. I couldn't help but think about the first time I'd ever eaten there...

Alison and I got married on Saturday night, that Sunday morning we, um, skipped church. We headed out for a late lunch to a nice Italian place downtown, twenty minutes from our church, so we wouldn't see anybody, being shy newlyweds. We walked into the restaurant to see only one other couple eating lunch. Derek and Sandra Webb. They'd been at our wedding the night before. We waved but didn't even talk to them. They were nice and bought our lunch.

Anyway, we had dinner there again and topped it off with a little ice cream at Maggie Moo's. Delish. I fly out in the morning to play a Caedmon's show in Houston. If you're going to be there make sure you say hey. Have a great weekend.
